Tech careers in the age of AI

A career in tech isn’t always a straight line, no matter your experience level – and right now, the path can feel especially uncertain.

Join us for a panel discussion exploring the twists and turns of a career in tech: from finding your first opportunity and building your expertise to navigating career setbacks, stepping into leadership, staying relevant as the industry evolves, and figuring out what comes next.

For this Sunday, we will do a panel discussion and a workshop on building your own AI-chatbot. Our panelists will share their personal experiences, challenges, lessons learned, and practical advice on building a career in a rapidly changing industry. And then it's time to get coding (scroll down to read more!)

Workshop: Inside the Chatbot

You’ve used AI chatbots, but what’s really going on inside, and how do you build something with one? In this hands-on workshop, we’ll go from “AI feels like magic” to “I built it myself.”

First you’ll write a tiny language model in Python and see how predicting the next word works. Then you’ll connect to a real AI model through an API, and finally build your own “chat with a document” bot that answers questions only from the text you give it. We’ll also try to break it on purpose, so you learn where AI goes wrong and why. No AI or machine learning experience needed.

Language: Basic Python

Tools: Google Colab + a free AI model API

Environment: Your browser

Level: Beginner

Prerequisites: None required. Basic programming familiarity is a bonus.

Preparations: A laptop, a modern browser and an internet connection. A free Google account is needed. No installs and no payment needed.
