Git is one of those tools everyone talks about, everyone is expected to use - and almost no one feels truly comfortable with at first. If you’ve ever felt unsure about what Git is actually doing, or worried about “breaking something” by using it wrong, this workshop is for you!

In this Git-Essentials workshop, we take the mystery out of version control and focus on what really matters: understanding how Git helps you work better, stay organized, and collaborate with confidence. You’ll learn practical workflows used in real projects, not just isolated commands.

Through hands-on examples, you’ll see how Git lets you experiment safely, communicate clearly through commits, and work together using branches, releases, and tags. By the end, Git won’t feel intimidating anymore - it’ll feel like a supportive tool that’s got your back as you grow as a developer.

    Inspirational Session & Coding Workshop

    From “Failure” to Feature: How Pivoting Led Me Into Software

    I didn’t enter software through a straight line. I arrived through what I used to call failures. Setbacks, closed doors, rejection, and moments where I felt behind or out of place. In hindsight, those experiences were not detours. They were direction. This talk reframes failure as data and pivoting as a core engineering skill. It explores how persistence and redirection shaped my journey, how bold but calculated choices changed what was possible, and why no skill is wasted. In an industry that rewards problem solving beyond technical output, a diverse background is not baggage. It can be leverage, even if that is not obvious at first.If you are trying to enter tech and you cannot see the full path, this talk is proof that you do not need to know exactly what you are finding to find your way.

    Laura is currently a Frontend Developer at Definitive Healthcare (previously known as Monocl AB).     She started her career in molecular biology before making the leap into tech through a coding bootcamp in late 2018. After graduating in 2019, Laura began working as a developer, and has embraced the ever-evolving challenges and opportunities the field brings ever since. When not coding, she's usually outside enjoying nature or spending time with friends.

    Git Essentials: From Local Repos to Team Workflows

    Workshop by: Rohma Wajid Rasul

    This workshop will introduce you to Git and practical Git workflows used in real-world software projects. We’ll start with the basics-git init, clone, and understanding repositories - before moving on to writing meaningful commit messages, using issues, and working with feature branching. The session will also cover releases and tags, traceability between code and requirements, and how Git supports collaboration. Through hands-on examples in a Python-based project, you will gain confidence in using Git both individually and in team settings, with a strong focus on best practices and clear communication.

    Rohma Wajid Rasul is a third-year BSc student in Software Engineering and Management at the University of Gothenburg.     She enjoys problem-solving and backend development, with a particular interest in designing data flows and system interactions that prioritize scalability and performance. She joined PINK to help foster a more accessible and welcoming tech environment for underrepresented groups, including women and non-binary people.
